- View Ridge Elementary School
- Meet Mrs. Brock
-
This is my 24th year teaching kindergarten at View Ridge Elementary School and I am proud to be part of such a committed team of teachers, parents and students.
In the year 2000 I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Oregon with an emphasis in Family and Community Services. I then pursued a Master's degree at the U of O in Early Intervention, which I received in the summer of 2001. That fall I found my home at View Ridge! I am always trying to improve my practice and be the best teacher I can be for my students. In 2011 I completed the extensive process to become a National Board Certified Teacher. I recently went through the 10-year renewal process for this advanced certification.
I met my husband Jason in sixth grade, but our first date was not until our senior prom. We have a nineteen-year-old daughter, Isabelle, whom we adopted from the Republic of Kazakhstan. We just dropped Izzie off for her Sophomore year at Washington State University! She is in the Honors College and is studying Animal Sciences on the Pre-Veterinary track.
Our youngest daughter, Madeleine (almost 16), was adopted from Ethiopia. Maddy will be a Sophomore at Lake Stevens High School this September! Both girls have been members of a competitive dance team (Trilogy Dance Company) for many years, so we often spend our weekends at dance conventions/competitions, sometimes even traveling out of the state/country.As a family, we love to read, have family movie nights, and take vacations together. This summer was filled with travels to support Maddy's dance aspirations. A national competition in San Diego and then two weeks in New York City as Maddy was accepted to a summer dance intensive at Pace University. We are so proud of her!
I am an avid reader and enjoy all genres. If you know of a great book, please tell me about it. I am always looking for something new to read!
