Week 3: July 22 - 25
Posted by Vicky North on 7/25/2019 1:00:00 PMThis week has flown by, again...
In our classes we continued to focus on ecosystems around the world. We even began a Flipgrid, which we will continue to add to throughout the summer session. On Wednesday Mrs. North's class had perfect attendance!!!! This week Mrs. Medrzycki's class were really excited about the book, The Cat in Numberland, and learning to solve for missing numbers in expressions. We continue to enjoy your children and appreciate their enthusiasm for learning.

Week 2: July 13 - July 18
Posted by Vicky North on 7/18/2019 2:00:00 PMThis week we continued to work on learning about ecosystems, and we focused on the Tropical Rainforest. Some facts we learned is that is rains on average 75 inches a year, and most tropical rainforest are very close to the Equator. Also every ecosystems has producers, consumers, and decomposer to help keep it balanced.
We read a book about deserts, and learned a lot about the Saguaro Cactus.
In math we have learned a couple of games, this week we learned 4 Strikes You’re Out. It is an equation game. Maybe we can teach our families how to play.
We also made decoders and can use them to send and receive secret messages.

Week 1: July 8 - 11
Posted by Vicky North on 7/11/2019 1:00:00 PMGood Afternoon! The first week of summer school flew by, as does each day. Thank you for sending your children to us ready to learn and have some fun with us. Below are some pictures and thoughts the students had about their experience so far.
Everyone is having a good time and learning a lot. We have learned about the continents and oceans of the world, along with some details about each. In Science we are learning all about Biomes, Ecosystems, and Habitats!
In Math we worked on place value and estimations. Did you know Googol is the name of a huge number. The picture below is of the Googol we created in our hallway. It is a ten to the power of 100! That means 100 zeros!
Each day we have time for reading and writing practice. We can do IReady at home or at school, as well as take AR tests.
Please leave a comment to share with the students.
Thank you,
Mrs. Medrzycki and Mrs. North
