When Silver Lake Elementary School opened in 1959, no other school in the district was further south than this elementary school. Since 1959, the district has built nine schools further south than Silver Lake Elementary School. The once rural Silver Lake Elementary is now nestled amidst residential and commercial properties. Thanks to voter approval of a construction bond, the 50 year old school was renovated in 2009 and is a hub of community activity and learning.
