I am looking forward to working with you this year as we learn to communicate with basic Spanish language skills. Please explore the different pages I have created to help you stay on track in your Spanish class. If you have any questions about how I grade homework, whether retakes are available, or when you will be receiving progress reports, feel free to contact me. The best way to get ahold of me is via email.

My education: I graduated from Willamette University in 2005 with a bachelor of arts in Spanish and a minor in Math. I continued my education at Willamette University the following year and graduated in 2006 with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. During my time at Willamette I had the opportunity to study abroad in Quito, Ecuador for a semester. This sparked my love of the culture and customs that the Spanish language embodies and since then I have returned to various countries in South and Central America several times to continue exploring these themes. I LOVE teaching Spanish because it is so rich with possibilities and opportunities!
Willamette also gave me the opportunity to participate in athletics at the collegiate level. I was a member of the Bearcat Tennis Team for 4 years, finishing my college career at #1 doubles and #3 singles. I have continued playing tennis competitively through USTA and I am now hoping to inspire others to play on the Cascade Bruin Tennis team as the head coach of the girls tennis team.
My interests include anything and everything that is tennis, backpacking, traveling, cycling, snow skiing, running and reading.

This last summer was an exciting and eventful time of my life. On July 28th I married my husband in Hawaii and was able to celebrate with friends and family in Oregon. I am in the process of changing my name from Miss Layton to Mrs. Femrite. :) It's going to be fun to start answering to my new name, Mrs. Femrite.
