Meet the Teacher

My name is Anastasia Bekris and this is my 5th year teaching at Silver Lake Elementary. I have previously taught 4th, 5th, and 4/5 split grades at SLE. I also taught 6th and 7th grade Math, Science, and Environmental Science in Los Angeles through Teach for America. 

I graduated from Gonzaga University (Go Zags!) in 2013, majoring in Environmental Studies, with minors in Spanish and Promotion. I received my teaching certificate and Master's in Urban Education through Loyola Marymount University.

I love teaching and learning. When I'm not at Silver Lake, I'm spending time painting, hiking, cooking, reading, and practicing yoga. 

I am very excited to work with your student this year and seeing what they create! 

My favorite children's books are Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty, and The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.
