Hello Kindergarten Families!
My name is Leigh Benaderet. I am excited to welcome you all to our kindergarten community at Tambark Creek Elementary School!
Kindergarten is an exciting year of growth and transition! It is the beginning of the K-12 public school experience for most children. It is a full-day program (9:10-3:30 at TCE) in Washington State. Students enter kindergarten with a wide array of preschool experiences and skills. Kindergarten teachers work with children to introduce them to the social and academic skills that they will use throughout their school years.
Kindergartners will work on early literacy and math skills. They will share stories and ask questions, investigate science topics and wonder about the world around them. They will create art, sing songs, use technology, and play outside. They will make new friends and learn to work together.
I look forward to getting to know your family and working with you to create a wonderful beginning for your child’s K-12 school journey! Here's a bit about me:
I currently live in Mill Creek with my husband and two kids (a fourth grader and a fifth grader). This is my seventh year teaching kindergarten in Everett Public Schools (I was at Forest View for one year before we opened TCE in 2019). Before that, I taught first grade in Burien, WA, second grade in San Pablo, CA and English as a Foreign Language to high school students in the Republic of Moldova. I grew up not too far from Tambark Creek and was a student at Woodside Elementary, Heatherwood Middle, and Jackson High School. I then went on to earn my B.A. in Elementary Education at Western Washington University and my M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. I love teaching and learning! I also enjoy creating art, playing outside, reading, playing board games, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
This year holds the potential for incredible learning! Please feel free to email with any questions or concerns throughout the year.
Sincerely,
