• A real education is not a simple transfer of information, not a competition,
but a gradual process of awakening compassion, deepening understanding,
and fostering the development of imagination, curiosity, and will.

    My Teaching Philosophy

Not only do I believe all children can learn, I truly believe that all children want to learn!
I aspire to be the kind of teacher who illuminates a child’s world. One who challenges and nurtures children’s natural curiosities and individual abilities, who encourages them to learn and grow, and appreciates each child for their unique potential. My classroom is a stimulating and rewarding learning environment where all learners are valued and respected. My personal endeavor is to empower my students with knowledge as they gain confidence and skills for their future success. Fortunately, my teaching philosophy is ever-changing and evolving with every new student and with every new school year. I believe we are all life long learners. Thinking and learning are as important to me as breathing. It is my desire to instill this belief to my students. Watching my students and of course “My Three Sons” fall in love with learning is my greatest JOY!

    Bio

I was born in North Carolina, but consider myself a Pacific Northwest Gal. My husband and I met in junior high school gym class (really!) and have been best of friends ever since! We have THREE WILD & CRAZY SONS that make our hearts beat and our brains think!  We also have a WILD & CRAZY Boston Terrier named Mr. Peepers. I am surrounded by WILD & CRAZY BOYS!  I stayed home with my children when they were young and have been Room Parent, Auction Parent, Reading Tutor, Field Trip Coordinator, Literacy Night Coordinator, Art Docent Chair,Website Developer for the boys' school Watch D.O.G.S. program (my husband is Top Dog), Snack Mom, Car Pool Queen, Board Member/Secretary for a non-profit organization…YES, active! I believe in giving back. My husband and I are very busy parents! YES, we love it! We take great pleasure being actively involved with our kids' education and extra-curricular activities. Life is a marathon, I pace myself! (I didn't do all at one time!) On the weekends you can usually find me at a kids sporting or music event (our oldest plays on traveling baseball team, and plays bass trombone in a jazz band, our youngest are soccer guys), creating in the kitchen,  reading a mystery novel, helping with homework projects, and of course doing LOADS of laundry!  I have a passion for teaching, learning, life and anything chocolate!
