Hello Kindergarten Families!

My name is Tarah Piukkula and this is my 19th year teaching kindergarten as part of the wonderful Silver Firs Elementary School family. I love working at this fantastic school and adore the precious moments (and challenges) of working with all of the amazing five and six-year olds that come through Silver Firs. Each day is always new and exciting!

I graduated from City University of Seattle with a BA in Elementary Education. After teaching for two years, I returned to college and received my Masters degree in curriculum design and instruction and also my Professional Certification. One trait I hope to pass along to all of my students that was instilled in me, a former student of the Everett School District, is to have a love for learning and to see yourself as a life-long learner.

Fun Facts: I have a ten-year-old daughter named Cataleya. She is named after an orchid. The name reminds my husband and I of Hawaii, which is where we got married. We also have a sweet and spunky five-year-old son named Cooper. He is adorable and an expert at exploring everything! For fun, I enjoy going on outings with my family, taking my kids to their sporting events and practices, working in my yard, spending time with my family and friends, eating Mexican food (my favorite!), and watching the Mariners, Seahawks, Huskies and Seattle Sounders with my wonderful husband!
