Welcome to German 1,2,3 AND 4/AP!  

 

My name is Kathy Lockwood, and I've been teaching German at Cascade for 26 years. Before teaching at Cascade, I studied German at the University of Washington. While at the UW, I was lucky enough to get a stipend to spend a year at the Justus-Liebig-Universität in Giessen in Hessen (Central Germany). I ended up spending two years studying in Germany, an experience that was invaluable to me as a German teacher! I later returned to Europe through the Fulbright Commission and taught English for a year at a teachers' training college in Linz, Austria. I enjoyed learning about Austria, a country that definitely has its own unique identity, customs and history. I earned an MA in German Language and Literature at the University of Kentucky, where I also taught introductory German. Finally, I returned to Washington to get my teaching certificate at Western Washington University in Bellingham. After completing my program, I was hired at Cascade High School, and I've been here ever since. Cascade is a great place to be! 

 

In my spare time, I enjoy raising my two athletic boys, traveling, cooking and skiing.
