As we enter the last 3 weeks of school, I want to say thank you to all my families for your patience and hard work during this time. I think we are all getting better at distance learning, but one undeniable fact is that I miss your seeing your children each and every day.
This week, I will not be assigning any new work. Please have your child focus on the i-Ready diagnostic test. This test will reset the pathway for your child and show the growth they have made this year. In Google Classroom, I encouraged my students to take their time. It is a marathon test...not a sprint. I encourage them to complete a section and then take a break away from their computer. They are not supposed to get the questions all correct as the test is measuring their knowledge. If they have done their absolute best on a question, please encourage them to move on and to not worry! I believe in them and am cheering them on from afar.
All lessons and learning activities are in the Google Classroom. Each week I am posting a TO DO list under the CLASSWORK tab. Along with this, I encourage students to do 45 minutes of iReady each week and keep reading AR books. I have added a Quicklink on this page for taking AR tests. There are some great reading sites under Quicklinks that I hope you will check out. Finally, I am so excited to say that we held our first Zoom class meeting last Friday. It was so good to see so many of your smiling faces. Students, look in your email for another Zoom invite this week.
Dear students and families,
Thank you for looking here for guidance during our break from traditional school. This is just as new for you as a learner as it is for me as a teacher. As we all learn together, I hope students will continue to engage in learning.
During our time away, I plan to communicate with you primarily through Google Classroom and your email. Students--check your district-issued email like we practiced last week before this break started. Parents--if you regularly receive email communications from aour school, you'll receive messages from me at the same address. If you do not receive email from the school, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call our school at 425.385.5700 to update your contact information.
I plan to post resources to Google Classroom. This web resource is only available to students with a school-district login, so parents will need to view the Google Class resources through their student's account.
"Exciting" might not be the first thought that comes to mind to describe this time we are in, but learning through online platforms is an opportunity for all of us. I hope you make the most of this chance we have.
If you have ANY questions, suggestions, or concerns during this time, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will miss seeing you (my students) every day!
