    4/10/17-4/15/17

This week our class started a new storyworks magazine. We also started a new C.I.A book. "Children of the Gold Rush." In writing we faced a hardship. We had to write about our spring break using no repeated words. During spring break some of us went on a tour of Olympia capitol building. We found out that our bill made it to the Senate, but sadly died:(. But there still is a hope that our bill will keep going if they pay enough money from their budget $. There some of us saw our counselor, Mrs. Ortiz. We took our fractions math test. We are writing a sequel about the Allison and Jamie stories. We are excited for our pizza party, and are hoping that they will announce the winners of March Madness.

  • Spring Break Writing with no repeated words

Posted by Sarah Lucas on 4/13/2017

The students were challenged to write a complete paragraph about their Spring Break experiences, WITHOUT repeating any word. It is a great word choice challenge!

I had a long no school break in California. Tine, we drove to Leah Courtney's. Then my family journeyed toward the Byvas's. Also, our team of people went into this car crash and got stuck for three hours! That was one awesome spring freedom!

    ~Gavin

During Spring Break we had much fun. My class went to Olympia. I also got a new game called "Jetpack Joy Ride". The family (mine) watched "Winter Soldier". In conclusion, it was not depressing.

    ~Ciaran

During our freedom days I went to Palm Desert. We had fun at a water park and splashed in the pool. My cousin also came. All of us played football. In conclusion it was good.

    ~Isaac

During break the family had fun. We went shopping and Ian bought two items. Dad got me lemonade. It was great (earned every drop)! My brother set up his sleepover. In conclusion that's great for a time out of school.

A note from Mrs. Lucas - This week we focused on different media versions of the same story, using The Lion and the Mouse. We looked a wordless picture book, a short story, a poem, and a play. The kids really enjoyed the wordless picture book and the play. They had wonderful observations to make about each. See below our class-created chart for each type of media.
