What is Lighthouse?
Lighthouse Elementary Cooperative is a choice program within Everett Public Schools housed at Jefferson Elementary School. This K-5 program features standard district curriculum with an overlay of parent involvement via weekly classroom volunteering and support for enrichment activities such as field trips and parent-led specialty lessons.
There is one Lighthouse class per grade level. By working together weekly, families, teachers, and students build a strong community as children move through all six grades with the same classmates.
Lighthouse has a parent-run volunteer board that maintains this website. The board sets forth volunteer and other requirements for families, which you can read about on the website. District transportation is provided for Everett Public Schools residents (with the exception of students who live within walking distance of Jefferson).
How do students apply for/enter the program?
Applications for the 2024-25 school year open February 8!
Please complete the application below for each child.
To apply as a NEW family, please click the "Apply Here" button in the language of your choice. New families should enroll using the same account they used to fill out their new student enrollment forms. Returning families may reach out to the Lighthouse Registrar directly.
To apply as an existing/continuing Everett Public Schools and/or Lighthouse family, use Home Access Center (HAC). More information about logging into HAC is available here. In HAC, go to the Registration icon, Update enrollment tab, under available forms click on Choice Program application.
Students already in the program will automatically continue. Spaces for new students are allocated via a lottery system based on the following priority:
- Siblings of children who will continue in the program the following school year
- Students who live in the Jefferson Elementary attendance area
- Students who are full-time Everett Public Schools employees at Jefferson or schools in our feeder pattern
- Students who live within the boundaries of Everett Public Schools, but outside of Jefferson’s attendance area (no in-district transfer paperwork required)
- Students from outside Everett Public Schools (out-of-district transfer paperwork required)
What happens after I apply?
You will be notified of your acceptance or waitlist status in writing this spring, following the lottery for open slots. At that time, you will be given a list of items to complete, as well as timelines for doing so. This may include district/school enrollment, and the district extended support volunteer application.
What if I need help, or even more info?
The Lighthouse application and enrollment process is handled by the Jefferson Elementary School office manager, who can be reached at 425-385-7400.
If you would like to hear parent perspectives on the program, you are encouraged to contact the Lighthouse registrar and registrar@lighthousecoop.org.
