About Me

  • What a joy it is to be in the presence of children; to walk with them, to learn from them, to watch as they discover the wonders of our world. I have been teaching in Everett Public Schools since 2008, first at Cedar Wood Elementary for 12 years and since then at James Monroe Elementary, my home school. You may even see me walking to/from school on fair weather days!

A native of southern California, the Pacific Northwest is where my heart resides. On my journey north, I earned a double B.A. from the University of California, Davis, then worked in business until I discovered my calling while volunteering at a local elementary school. After earning my teaching certificate and master's degree from Seattle Pacific University, my teaching career has become a blur of memories of working with the most amazing children.

My wife, Alissa, and I live in Everett with our children, Emmarie and Micah. On weekends you can typically find us running around with these two; they keep us quite busy!

    For my students' parents:
Although I may be your child's formal teacher, it really is you who are the true teachers. We may do our heavy lifting here, but whatever we do in class is built upon the solid foundation you have set and continue to build upon. I am grateful that you grant me the opportunity to assist you in this ever-important undertaking. With that said, I look forward to partnering with you to make this your child's best year of learning yet!
