5th Grade Concert
Stars and Stripes Forever
We Salute Our Veterans!
Thursday, November 15th at 9:30AM and 1:45PM
This year the 5th graders will be featured at our school Veterans Day Assembly for their concert, Stars and Stripes Forever; We Salute Our Veterans. We will offer two performances during the day as a tribute to all of the men and women who have served or who are currently serving our country. There will be no evening concert so make sure to attend the daytime performances! We encourage all families, Veterans, and current members of the service to attend one of the performances on Thursday, November 15th at 9:30AM (grades K, 2, and 4 attend) or 1:45PM (grades 1 and 3 attend). All of the songs for our Veterans Day Concert will feature two-part choral music that teaches important 5th grade musical skills. The students will not only be performing high quality choral literature, but will begin the process of learning how to read and perform choir music as preparation for middle school.
IMPORTANT CONCERT INFORMATION
What time is the performance?
The 5th grade concert will take place ONLY during the school day on Thursday, November 15th. There will be two performances offered for families, veterans, and current service men and women to attend on November 15th at 9:30AM (grades K, 2, and 4 attend) or 1:45PM (grades 1 and 3 attend).
What do the students wear?
The 5th graders need to wear red, white, or blue shirts. Girls may also wear red, white, or blue dresses.
Who will have speaking parts?
All 5th grade students will be doing writings and research in class about Veterans Day. Select students from each 5th grade class will be chosen to read their completed writings as speaking parts in between songs. If your child is chosen, please practice his/her part at home so it is memorized for the concert. Speaking in front of a large audience is scary, and being prepared with your speaking part will help ease those nerves.
How can the 5th graders practice and memorize the songs?
The 5th graders have already started working on their songs in music class, but I only see them once a week. Attached to this note are the words to the different songs we will be performing. Recordings of each song can be found on Mrs. Hill’s website to practice with https://www.everettsd.org/Page/25860. If the students practice at home AND in music class, this is going to be a wonderful performance.
Thank you so much for your help at home! If you have any questions or concerns please let me know!
