• Individual Counseling

I am available for short term individual counseling with students to help children understand and accept themselves, cope with family changes or crises, and to develop decision making skills, problem solving strategies, anger management techniques, friendship making skills, and/or coping skills for handling emotions .

Students can request to talk with me directly, or they may be referred by their teachers, other staff members, and/or parents. Parents and guardians are welcome to call me to share any concerns about their child and I will follow up with the child to determine the best way to support the student at school. If long term counseling is needed, I am happy to share what resources I have with the family.

  • During individual meetings with students, I can help children understand and accept themselves, cope with family changes and/or family crises, develop decision making skills, conflict resolution skills, anger management techniques, and problem solving strategies. The following are just a few examples of the situations in which school counselors can help their students:

      • My parents are getting a divorce. I'm scared about what is happening to our family.
      • My best friend and I seem to be fighting a lot lately. We just can't seem to get along.
      • I am the new kid here at school and I am afraid that I just won't fit in.
      • My parents are fighting a lot more than they used to. Is it something I did?
      • My father just lost his job and everyone at home seems so upset all of the time.
      • I have been having nightmares lately and it takes me so long to fall asleep at night.
      • My grandmother just died and I miss her.
      • Mommy just had a new baby and that baby is ruining everything!
      • I do my homework, but I can't seem to remember to bring it with me to school.
      • I am worried about my friend. She's been acting strange lately.
      • This kid on the bus says things that make me uncomfortable.
