Pacers Start Up Again!!!
Posted by Susan Wood on 4/15/2020 7:00:00 AMToday is the day!!! Pacers start up again. We will persevere and keep moving...here's how!
1. Find a "track" you are able to walk or run, either with your family or on your own.
2. Use either Google Earth or a walking/running app that will calculate how far you have run. I like Map My Walk. It's free and all I do is hit start when I start my walk or run. It maps where I have gone, what my mileage is, and how long it takes me (my time). It can even save your workout. If you don't have an app available to you, ask your parents to help you figure out a "track". Use google maps to show directions to a friends house or other landmark. When you hit show directions, it will tell you how far that place is from you.
3. Start moving. Each day you run/walk send me a message either to my email at swood@everettsd.org or on the google classroom page. At that point I will add your miles to your EZ Scan account. At the end of the month, I will get your toe tokens to you... Probably through regular mail!
4. Set a goal for yourself. 60 minutes of activity each day is what you should be shooting for... 10-20 minutes of this can be your run/walk!
Email me with questions! I an't wait for us to get moving....

Going on a Bear Hunt
Posted by Susan Wood on 3/23/2020 11:30:00 AMIt's Monday of the second week of no school....
Blah. My own kids finished their school work for the day and then we decided to go for a walk. I'm not sure if your neighborhood or community has heard of this, but there is a new fad going around. It's called going on a bear hunt. Basically, folks put a stuffed bear in one of their windows facing the street and other folks find bears while they go for a walk. I "preloaded" my neighborhood by sending a text to a few friends asking them to toss a bear in the window! It worked!!! We found 9 bears, some cool chalk art,
and a real live dog and cat looking out their wondows! Get it going in your neighborhood, it was waaaayyyyyy cool!

What now??
Posted by Susan Wood on 3/20/2020 11:00:00 AMHmmm.... what about the Pacers? The sun has been out and I miss the excitement that our Wednesday and Friday runs gave us. Work with your family to find creative ways to walk or go for a run.
My son likes to run so a challenge I gave him was to get the mail. THERE WERE CONDITIONS!
1. He had to run.
2. He could only bring one piece of mail at a time to the house.
3. Once he brought me the mail he had to do either ten jumping jacks or a plank for 10 seconds before getting the next piece of mail.
Hee hee... have fun!!
