Welcome to another fantastic year!
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I knew in 6th grade that I wanted to be a teacher and stayed focused on that goal from that point forward. I went to school in the Edmonds School District and throughout Middle School and High School I volunteered at my Elementary School. I attended Western Washington University graduating in 2005 with my Bachelors of Arts in Education and my teaching certificate. After a couple of years I decided to continue my education and attended Walden University where I earned my Masters in Education. My most recent accomplishment was earning National Board Certification in 2012.
I am excited to begin my 10th year of teaching with a new group of first graders. I began working in the Everett School District in 2006 at Whittier Elementary where I taught half day Kindergarten. In 2007 I went to Garfield Elementary to teach 2nd grade. I stayed at Garfield for 2 years and then moved to Penny Creek in 2009. My first year at Penny Creek I taught a 2/3 split class followed by 2nd grade the year after. I landed in 1st grade in 2011. I have loved every minute of my teaching career but certainly feel that I have found my home in 1st grade.
My husband and I were married in 2009. Our first daughter was born in May of 2011. We welcomed our second daughter in February of 2014. Our family is rounded out with a 7 year old Jack Russell Terrier. When I find myself with free time I enjoy sewing and discovering non-traditional ways to use scrapbook paper.
