History: Investigation, Evidence, Action

  • Mrs. Green

I would like to introduce myself.

    I am Mrs. Green.

DURING THE COVID 19 CLOSURE as of March 30th, 2020:

First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you out there. None of us could have ever seen this coming but I know we are up to the challenge.

Right now, I cannot be there in-person to show you work but you, MY *AWESOME SUPER BRAIN*, students can read, interpret, and learn about history during this time. We are going to continue on this adventure together!!

To help everyone, I will be keeping to the following schedule:*

8th graders will have work in Google Classroom https://sites.google.com/a/apps.everettsd.org/google-apps-start-page/start-page

    On Mondays and Wednesdays:

    • Historical Reference to look up and complete on Ducksters.com
      • Estimated time to completion: 5-10 min
      • A 48 hour completion timeframe
    • A 10 question assignment
      • Estimated time to completion after completing Historical Reference: 5-10 min
      • A 48 hour completion timeframe

Students should make up all work from 3/2 - 3/13.

Please use online grades to see what is missing.

7th graders will have work in Google Classwork https://sites.google.com/a/apps.everettsd.org/google-apps-start-page/start-page

    On Mondays and Wednesdays:

    • Mrs. Green Notes/Readings to go over topics
      • Estimated time to read: 10-15 min
      • A 48 hour completion timeframe
    • Assignment for Review
      • Estimated time to completion after reading the Notes and Reading: 5-20 min
      • A 48 hour completion timeframe

Students should make up all work from 3/2 - 3/13.

Please use online grades to see what is missing.

    Parents Information (and students know)

I am on your side. I will help as much as I can. This is new to us all. Teachers, parents, students  . . .

I do not expect you to be a homeschooling parent all of a sudden. One of the biggest things about being in school is the socialization that we are now ALL missing right now. I put in time estimations for every single step of these processes. The 8th graders know exactly what to do for the new assignments. We had just done this process 10 times before our closing. 7th graders have been practicing this work in a different format but I know they can get this. And since all students have practiced doing the daily assignments the last two weeks, we should be off and running.

Accountability. I will report "grades" as follows on on-line grades.

    • TI = turned in completed and on time
    • TL = assignments completed late
    • MI = nothing submitted

    •  The only exception to Letter Grades of Accountability is that I will be posting the Presidents Memorization Score.
      • Again, it will not affect the grade but WILL show improvement as students show their progress so far from October to the current time and beyond.
      • Some students will be starting off perfect since the last two weeks of practice got them there already!

From now on, I will only send out ONE EMAIL a week.

    • Tuesday Progress Report day using the Accountability Codes outlined above.
    • I will continue with this process since that has been our routine all year long.
    • Updates will be announced Tuesdays on that email.
    • This website should be your first resource for history class
    • But, as always, I am available via email to answer your questions as best I can.

This is a tool to help all of us.

Please take into consideration your own personal circumstances.

I have set up my Google Classrooms by date.

Unless it is really important for you to hold your student accountable, I would recommend always focusing on CURRENT work. Make sure the daily work is finished. It will show up as a To Do for them. Then, make a choice if you wish for them to do previous days. Saturdays and Sundays have always been and will continue to be yours.

Please take care of you and yours.
