I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington (Go Huskies!) and worked for several years in the business world as the Payroll Administrator and Human Resource Manager for our family's general contracting company. When we retired our business in 2001, I returned to the UW, obtained my teaching certification, and made a career change. Over the past 16 years I have been challenged and energized through teaching both 7th and 8th grade ELA and Social Studies here at Gateway.
For the 2019/20 school year, I will be teaching three sections of English for 7th grade students who have opted to challenge themselves with the 8th grade literacy curriculum. This class is fast paced and students are assessed according to 8th grade standards. Students who are successful in this course are organized and self-directed with a "growth mindset" for learning. My personal teaching philosophy is that learning should be relevant, rigorous and fun.
