Welcome To Mr. Dockter's Class
-
Welcome to another amazing year! I am excited to have your student in my class this year and am looking forward to a year full of learning and personal growth!
With High School now less than a year away for your son or daughter, know that I plan on pushing all my students to raise the bar with their expectations, to work with a consistently high level of effort, to be engaged and personally responsible for their learning, and to use this last year of "high school prep" intentionally to ensure their success at the next level!
A bit about me...
I grew up not too far away in Mukilteo, WA, and was a graduate of Kamiak High School, Class of 2000. (Knights are kind of like Guardians, right?!)
Prior to my teaching career, my work with students included nearly a decade working for non-profit student organizations, including as an Area Director with Young Life in the Bothell area and as a Teen Director with the Northshore YMCA. After earning my Master's in Teaching and my WA State Teaching Certificate in the summer of 2016, I started my teaching career in the Northshore School District, where I live with my wife Hannah and two daughters, Devyn + Kenzie (Bothell High School - Class of 2026 + 2028).
The 2018-19 school year was my first year teaching in the Everett School District, as a history teacher at Gateway Middle School. In addition to teaching, I am the head coach of both the football and wrestling programs here at Gateway. You will also likely see me in the stands at many of our athletic and music events when my schedule allows.
Please use any links here on my site to help keep yourself and your student up to date and organized throughout the year.
Middle School is an important preparation for the demands of High School, and I want your student to achieve a high level of success and build self-confidence as they navigate new educational challenges. If you ever have questions or concerns, please use my district email below. I look forward to hearing from you!
