• logoHello Band Students and Families!

I am excited to get started this year at Heatherwood Middle School and can't wait to get started with all of the bands! I look forward to meeting all of you and having a great year of learning and performances in band.

    My Philosophy

I believe that music is a powerful medium that can help students discover their unique capabilities, build positive relationships with their peers, ignite creativity and foster meaningful connections with the larger community. As director, my job isn't just waving the baton--it's conducting myself and our band in a way that brings the benefits of music into the lives of our students and community.

Michael Lundquist graduated Central Washington University with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, during which time he studied trumpet with Charles Butler and John Harbaugh. He holds a Master's Degree in Conducting through the American Band College of Sam Huston State University, and is a National Board Certified Teacher. He comes to Everett Public Schools with 12 years of experience teaching elementary and middle school band, jazz, as well as teaching high school marching band and drum and bugle corps. In addition to his duties as Director of Bands at Heatherwood Middle School and Jazz at Jackson High School, Mr. Lundquist teaches privately and performs regularly as the Principal Trumpet of the Seattle Rock Orchestra and can be heard around the Seattle Area playing with such groups as Breaks and Swells, the Eastside Modern Jazz Orchestra, and in various jazz ensembles, chamber groups and pit orchestras. He has served as assistant principal and in the sections of several orchestras in the area, including the Great Bend Center for Music and the Seattle Philharmonic. Mr. Lundquist was also a founding member of the Seattle Sounders FC "Sound Wave" Band and the Seattle Wind Symphony. Has had the distinct pleasure to appear in performance with Sir Mix-a-Lot, Stewart Copeland, Allen Stone, various other artists, and under the baton of Gerard Schwarz.
