Welcome

  • Monte Scholz Dear Students and Families:

This letter should be viewed in conjunction with the communication sent last Monday, June 1. It continues to address some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) I’ve received from students and parents/guardians over the past couple of weeks.

How will attendance/engagement credit be determined for the week of 6/3 – 6/9?

    • Student must complete all six (6) activities for “Week Five” of the current, “Active” Zinc Reading Sprint.

    AND/OR

    • Demonstrate progress on the Scholastic Scope My History Project I posted on Thursday, May 28. (Outlines or drafts of work need to be “shared” with me in the Google Classroom or emailed to me directly.)

How will attendance/engagement credit be determined for the week of 6/10 – 6/16?

    • Student must complete all six (6) activities for “Week Six” of the current, “Active” Zinc Reading Sprint.

    AND/OR

    • Complete the Scholastic Scope My History Project. (Projects need to be “shared” with me in the Google Classroom or emailed to me directly.)

**NOTE: I made the deadline for this project Tuesday, June 16. That will allow students who are working on their projects the ability to count them toward the last "attendance/engagement" window of the school year. However, if you want any constructive feedback from me regarding your project, it will need to be submitted by Friday, June 12.

How can I raise my pre-closure “letter grade”?

Short Answer: Substitute 15,000 Zinc Performance Points for Independent Reading credit.

15,000 Zinc Performance Points will allow a student to substitute one (1) missing or low achieving pre-closure reading log with an “exceeding standard” score AND earn full AR credit toward one (1) of the required independent reading books.

Explanation/Rationale: See last week’s email, Letter for Monday 06-01-2020.

What if I finish the current Sprint, but I didn’t reach the 15,000 points to help raise my grade?

Short Answer: You will need to read and complete additional Article Quizzes and Vocab Decks at your assigned Reading Difficulty Level.

Explanation/Rationale: See last week’s email, Letter for Monday 06-01-2020.

You can monitor and track your total Zinc Performance Points by viewing your “Stats” from the “Reports” function in the pulldown menu on the Zinc Dashboard.

**NOTE:  Adjustments to pre-closure “letter grades” will not happen until after June 16.

All Zinc Performance Points to be considered for grade adjustments must be completed by 11:59 PM on Tuesday, June 16.

    Stay safe, stay well,
