Dear Heatherwood Band Families,

Welcome to the beginning of the school year!  I am very excited to meet everyone and I can’t wait to get started.

Students will not need instruments on the first day of school. Beginners will get more information separately about instrument selection and rentals. Intermediate (Concert Band) and Advanced (Symphonic Band) students should have instruments and be ready to play by Monday, September 12.

Information about renting instruments will be coming home soon, so be on the lookout if you will need to rent an instrument from the school. Other options are local music stores, including Kennelly Keys, Music & Arts and others.

Beginning (6th grade) and Intermediate (7th grade) bands will be using the Essential Elements for Band books. Information about how to order books will come soon. 

We will have several performances throughout the year. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending our concerts on December 6, March 13 (8th Graders), March 16 and June 8. The concerts will take place in the Jackson High School commons. More information about what to wear and other details will be communicated later in the year.

I won't overwhelm you with lots of information now, but be on the lookout for emails that will come to communicate everything you'll need to know for you and your student to be successful in band.
