• A message from 8th Grade Counselor, Mrs. Olson:

Dear 8th Grade Students and Families,
As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, we want to share important information about the upcoming 9th grade registration process. Students will continue with registration and high school transition activities to their boundary school until Gateway is notified of official acceptance at another school.

Feb. 10, 2026:  High School Assignments Posted

High School Assignments will be posted in the Commons and near the counseling office on Feb. 10, 2026. These assignments are based on the student’s home address and cannot be changed unless your address has officially changed. Students will continue with registration and high school transition activities to their boundary school until Gateway is notified of official acceptance at another school.

    March 2, 2026:
“Know Before You Go” Registration Lesson and Course Catalog Distribution

Students will receive their high school course catalog during their English class. This catalog will help them explore elective options and plan for next year. They will also participate in a pre-registration lesson answering most questions they will have regarding high school registration and graduation requirements.

    March 4, 2026: High School Pre-Registration Meeting

During 2nd period, counselors from Jackson High School and Cascade High School will meet with students to share information about the opportunities and classes at each high school. Students will continue with registration and high school transition activities to their boundary school until Gateway is notified of official acceptance at another school.

March 4, 2026: Future Bruin Night/8th grade Family Night at Cascade High School, 5-7pm.

March 10, 2026: Future Timberwolf Night/8th grade Family Night at Jackson High School.  Times will be announced soon.

    March 13, 2026: Registration Day
Students will officially register for their 9th grade classes on March 13, 2026, during their advisory class. We encourage families to review the course catalog together ahead of time and discuss interests, goals, and schedule choices.

March 17, 2026: High School Transition Day

Students will receive a 15-minute appointment time to meet with a counselor from their future high school (Jackson or Cascade). Parents are encouraged to attend, but it is not required. Appointment times will be emailed to parents & students in early March. Students will meet with their assigned high school unless official documentation of an official transfer is received by our registrar. Students will continue with registration and high school transition activities to their boundary school until Gateway is notified of official acceptance at another school.
