Welcome to School Year 2024-2025
I am so excited about teaching your students this school year! We will work together in order to create a rich learning experience for our students.The paraeducators who work in our classroom are Ms. Nahed Alladin, Mrs. Claire Bird Mrs. Karen Pauley, and Mr. Paul Schultz. They will be supporting our students in a multitude of ways, including attending general education classes with them. Please see our class schedule below. We will be completing our work in the classroom every day.
Period 1-Skills for Success-Social Skills
Period 2-ELA
Period 3-Elective Classes
Period 4-Learning Lab
Period 5-Math
Period 6-WA State History/Skills for Success
ELA-Students will be working on Language Live and Vocab Journey online for reading and writing. Language Live includes text training and online word training. We will have a scheduled library lesson once a month and will be visiting the library regularly to check out books. For reading materials, you may also access audible books by visiting the Eisenhower Library website or by visiting Story books online when looking at Helpful Learning Sites (Resources for Inclusive Learning) on this website. After our independent reading time, students will be writing a complete sentence in their reading logs.
Math-Students will be working online and working in groups on individualized math goals.
Social Skills-The curriculum for social skills includes the following: Think Social and Social Skills Activities for Secondary Students with Special Needs. I also use social skills, study skills, and anger management curriculum, including the following: Anger Control, Teaching Social Thinking and Related Skills, and Mind-Up. Skills and strategies. Skills are taught to students in order to address students’ adaptive/self-help goals, social/behavioral goals, individual needs, and Eisenhower’s Patriot Code (Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be
Responsible).
WA State History-The history curriculum includes The Washington Journey book adopted by the Everett School District. Supplementary materials are utilized in order to meet students' individual needs. The curriculum aligns with Common Core State Standards.
Learning Lab-Written Expression, IEP goal work, general education work
You may want to take a look at the Metropolitan Museum of Art link for some fun and interesting art activities. Also, try an activity from Relaxation Tools or Social Skills Google Classroom and appreciate something about today for social-emotional learning!
