Essential Question: (Below Standard)
1) Write a Stem (Intro paragraph)
i.e. (I will present “1” reasons citing textual evidence that answer the Essential Question, “How did the Patriots defeat the strongest nation in the world i.e. “Great Britain”, in the American Revolutionary War?”)
2) Write a Claim for the 1 body paragraph.
i.e. (The invention of better weapons turned the tide of the War toward the Patriots.)
3) Write one Body Paragraph stating the one citation answering the Essential Question.
4) Write/Use 1- 2 sentences in the one body paragraph that make explicit references/cite evidence to your claim.
Essential Question: (Nearing Standard)
1) Write a clear Stem (Intro paragraph)
i.e. (I will present “2” reasons citing textual evidence that answer the Essential Question, “How did the Patriots defeat the strongest nation in the world i.e. “Great Britain”, in the American Revolutionary War?”)
2) Write a clear Claim for each of the 2 paragraphs you write.
i.e. (First, the invention of better weapons turned the tide of the War toward the Patriots.)
3) Write 2 clear Body Paragraphs each stating evidence/citation answering the Essential Question.
4) Each clear Claim has 2 parts that make explicit evidence/citation to each claim, where the 1st part paraphrases the text/source from the text/source that supports the clear claim, while the 2nd part has 2 sentences i.e. “commentary”, explaining the paraphrase that supports the clear claim that supports/answers the Essential Question.
5) Write/Use (First) and (Second) to begin each clear Body Paragraph.

5) Write/Use (First), (Second), and (Third) to begin each clear Body Paragraph.
6) A page #, article name, or author’s name is needed at the end each piece of evidence i.e. the citation.
7) Write a clear Concluding Paragraph that summarizes/ties together the Essential Question with your 3 claims/evidence.
