Everett High School Theatre Department

  • The Theatre Program has over 100 students who partake in Theatre and Technical Theatre classes, and includes almost 100 students who participate in  extra-curricular plays, improv and musicals each season. Our curriculum courses offered are Beginning Drama, Intermediate/Advanced Drama, Technical Theatre I, II & III.  All drama courses are semester long and students receive 0.5 fine arts credit; our technical theatre I course is a full year course in which our students receive a 1.0 fine arts and 1.0 CTE credit; technical theatre II & III are both semester courses and students receive 0.5 fine arts and 0.5 CTE credit. Our extracurricular program provides opportunity for students to earn varsity letter and points toward induction into the International Theatre Society - an honor society for the performing arts. Our local chapter is the Washington Thespian Society. This is our first year participating in this program and there will be opportunity to participate in regional events (similar to solo/ensemble for band and choir) and go to state (Central Washington University) in the spring. Year to year we include multiple field trip experiences including trips to Seattle for professional productions and Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

Each year, Everett's Theatre and Music programs combine forces to produce a full scale musical theatre production. In the past few years, Everett's musicals have been nominated and received honorable mention awards from the 5th Avenue High School Musical Theater Awards including Best Ensemble Show (Calvin Berger 2018), Best Music Direction (Calvin Berger 2018), Best Featured Actress (42nd Street 2018), Honorable Mention Choreography (42nd Street 2018), Honorable Mention Choral Group (Calvin Berger 2018), Honorable Mention Supporting Actor (42nd Street 2018), Best Costume Design (Mermaid 2017), Best Hair and Makeup (Mermaid 2017), Honorable Mention Set Design (Mermaid 2017), Honorable Mention Featured Actress (Legally Blonde 2017), Honorable Mention Set Design (Bye Bye Birdie 2016), Honorable Mention Featured Actress (Bye Bye Birdie 2016).

Everett Theatre Alumni are attending many of the nation’s most prestigious performing arts schools and universities including Standford University, Chapman University, Cornish College of the Arts, AMDA, Northwestern University, Pacific Lutheran University, Seattle Pacific University, University of Washington, Central Washington University and Western Washington University.

Everett High School’s Theatre program is fortunate to have a supportive parent community – the EHS Drama Booster Club – who support the programs with financial and volunteer assistance and ensure that our students receive the richest arts experience possible while at Everett High School. Because the theatre program receives very little financial assistance from the district or school budgets, the boosters work with students and faculty to fund raise thousands of dollars annually. These funds supplement our ticket sale profits and assist with purchase/rental of costuming, field trips, travel accommodations, festival fees, professional mentoring, production shoes and much more. The boosters are an ever changing dynamic group of parents and welcome new families throughout the year. If you feel you have talents to offer our program you can contact everettdramaclub@gmail.com.

It is incredibly important to provide the highest level of drama education to our students. Workshops, residencies and mentorships are built into our courses and extra-curricular program in multiple disciplines including music direction, vocal direction, scenic design, lighting design, script writing, costuming, acting and dance/choreography. Artistic partnerships include 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle Rep, Book-It Reperatory Theatre and independent working artists.

The EHS Theatre program welcomes students 9 - 12th grade of all abilities, level of training and experience. Everett drama takes pride in the fact that we have students in our courses and extra-curricular program representing the diversity that is Everett High and continue to create an environment that honors community and the ever-changing population of our school.
