Welcome to my webpage!
The modern classroom demands a flexible, skilled, and knowledgeable instructor. Instructors are needed that incorporate student experiences into curriculum. Instructors are needed that have experience working across different cultures and learning styles. Instructors must have extensive knowledge of state and local standards and how to build assessments around those standards. I am proud to say that I am an instructor that meets the demands and qualifications of the modern classroom.
My core belief has always been to incorporate what students already know into my lessons. Using constructivism-based teaching strategies I encourages students to make the connections between material themselves and to develop important real-world skills. My experience teaching at the Snohomish School District from 2017-2020 has included creating new curriculum, school wide assessments, and leading school events. My experiences teaching English in China in 2016 helped me develop skills that enable me to work across cultural and linguistic barriers as well as to see the strengths of having a multicultural classroom.
Beyond the classroom my passion for creating a healthy and inspiring learning environment has pushed me to develop new extracurricular programs for my school district. At Snohomish High School I created the Game Club. This club brings together students with a passion for gaming and gaming culture in a place where they can learn leadership skills, make new friends, and engage in the broader school community. At Glacier Peak High School I co-advised the Robotics Club, Game Club and UNICEF Club
I received my master’s in education from Eastern Washington University in 2020. I received my bachelor’s in social studies education from Central Washington University in 2017.
I am excited to be apart of the Everett High School “flock” starting with the 2020-2021 school year teaching English!
