  • March 19: JHS Transition Conferences

    Student Specific Appointment Times

Student appointment times were emailed to parents/guardians and students last Monday, March 9. If you did not receive your student’s time, please contact Ms. Myra Flor Arpin at marpin@everettsd.org.

All appointments are during the school day and in person on Thursday, March 19.

On Thursday, parents/guardians can check-in at our Heatherwood library and your student will meet you in the library. Students will be given passes earlier in the day of their appointment times.

If the time you were assigned does not work for you, please reach out to Ms. Myra Flor Arpin by Monday (marpin@everettsd.org). We’ll do our best to accommodate requests and will notify parent/guardians of any updated times by Wednesday afternoon. With over 350 students, scheduling can be tricky....we did our best to honor time preferences as indicated on the parent survey sent out earlier last month.

If your student is currently on an IEP, parent/guardians should have already been contacted by their case manager or our school psychologist; these conferences start earlier this upcoming week.

    To-do list in preparation for...

    JHS Transition Conferences

    To Do:

By the end of the school day on Wednesday, March 18, all students should have the following inputted into the "Course Requests" section of their StudentVue accounts:
    • 6 credits of first-choice classes entered
    • 6–8 semesters of alternate classes

If students need to make edits to their course requests, they can do so via their StudentVUE account through March 19th. I went over this process with students last week in their science classrooms. There is a video link that provides instructions on how students can view and edit their course requests in StudentVUE. Please know that anything entered into StudentVue course requests on March 23rd will be your student's official course requests for the 2026-27 school year.

Parents can view course requests in ParentVUE, but any changes must be made through the student’s StudentVUE account.

I will be checking reports over the next few days to see which students need to input their ccourse requests. I will do my best to check in with students individually and try to find them during their classes to help them get everything finished while they are at school. I am also visiting elementary schools for incoming 6th grade presentations, so depending on immediate student needs in the building and my presentation schedule at other schools, I may not be able to meet with every student—but I will do my best to connect with those who still need support.

Your student’s High School Transition Conference on Thursday, March 19 will be a time to review and finalize course requests and with a Jackson High School staff member. Having your student’s course requests entered into StudentVUE before the conference will allow for more time to talk through class choices and give students and parents/guardians the opportunity to ask or go over student specific questions/wonderings.

    HS&B Survey

    via Naviance

As part of high school graduation requirements, all students complete a High School & Beyond (HS&B) survey. Most students completed their surveys during science class with me last week, and I’ll be finishing up with Ms. Kalbrener’s 1st period class over the next few days to make sure everyone is done.

If your student was absent last week when I was in their science class, they can access Naviance and their HS&B plan survey on their Chromebook (via Clever or 'student tools' from the school website).

I will send an email to students who have not yet completed their HS&B plan by Tuesday evening so they can complete the survey on their own time.

    JHS Pre-Registration Forms

    Manila/Yellow forms

Purpose & Due Date: JHS Pre-Registration Forms

Completed JHS Pre-Registration forms can be turned in to science teachers by Monday, March 16. After Monday, students can drop completed pre-reg forms off in the counseling office with Ms. Stephanie, our amazing counseling registrar.

These forms are a great planning tool and should match what students entered in StudentVUE, which is the official record. We’ll have each student’s pre-registration form right at their table during their High School Transition Conference to use as a reference.

Students will need to bring their completed pre-reg forms with them on Thursday to their appointment if they have not turned them in earlier in the week. All completed pre-registration forms will be sent to Jackson High School after the transition conferences are complete.

Please note: the classes listed on the back of the pre-registration form reflect the most up-to-date course offerings at Jackson High School for 9th graders. There were some course location errors in the EPS Course Catalog.

  • Input Course Requests & Alternates into Student Vue

(Week of March 9th with Ms. Smith in Science classrooms)

Ms. Smith will visit 8th grade Science classrooms next week to help students input their 9th grade course requests and alternates into Student Vue. Students should come to class with their completed JHS Pre-Registration Form 2026-27 and their EPS course catalog. During this visit, students will also complete the required High School & Beyond survey through Naviance.

Course request forms were distributed earlier this week during the JHS counselor visits. If your student needs another copy, I will bring extra blank forms to each classroom. You can also print a copy at home using this link.

Completed pre-registration forms will be collected during class. We will have your student's completed form available to you at your Thursday, March 19th High School Transition conference.

If students are absent the day Ms. Smith visits their science class, they can turn their completed form into the front office and we will make sure it gets entered. A link will also be made available on this website this week in case students need to make edits later in the week.

Parents will be able to view course requests in ParentVUE, but any changes must be made through the student’s StudentVUE account.

Course requests will be reviewed and finalized alongside JHS staff during your HS Transition Conferences on March 19th.

A completed JHS Pre-Registration Form includes:

    • student and parent/guardian signatures
    • 6 credits of first-choice classes
    • 8 semesters of alternate classes

    Science class visits will be:

    • Monday, March 9 – Kalbrener
    • Tuesday, March 10 – Matthews
    • Wednesday, March 11 – Anderson

All green highlighted areas need to be completed:
