Welcome to an exciting year of learning at H.M. Jackson High School!
I currently teach Geometry in Application and Algebraic Concepts. This year will be filled with growth, discovery, learning, and enthusiasm—and I can’t wait to embark on this journey together. I obtained my bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, with a major in Communications and a concentration in Marketing & Sales, complemented by a double minor in Education, Learning & Society and Business Entrepreneurship. My passion for education led me to further my academic studies at UW, where I earned my Master’s Degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus in mathematics.
Quintilian once said, "The role of an educator is to arrange victories for students." This quote is at the heart of what I do, as I believe that educators have a fundamental responsibility to create meaningful learning experiences that empower students to achieve success. Each accomplishment, no matter how big or small, cultivates a growth mindset, enabling learners to approach new challenges with excitement and continue their educational journey with a positive outlook. Additionally, I'm enthusiastic about solving math problems and exploring their real-world applications. This passion informs my approach to teaching, where my desire is to help learners make meaningful connections between math concepts and their everyday experiences, ultimately fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of math. Beyond teaching math, I enjoy running, rock climbing, snowboarding, reading, playing guitar and piano, exploring new places, and spending quality time with family & friends. I look forward to working together to make this a memorable and impactful year!
