After completing an extensive national search, Everett Public Schools Board of Directors announced at their May 21, 2019 board meeting the following three finalists in their search for a new superintendent:
Presented in alphabetical order, the finalists are:
- Dr. Gabriella Duran-Blakey is currently the Associate Superintendent of Leadership and Learning of Learning Zone 1 in Albuquerque Public Schools, New Mexico. She works to transform schools into learning communities focused on the belief that all students can learn and encourages staff to embrace new ideas. See complete bio and resume.
- Dr. Ian Saltzman is currently South Region Superintendent in Palm Beach County School District in Florida. He has a passion for all students reaching their potential and fulfilling their dreams and has a proven track record in improving school outcomes. See complete bio and resume.
- Stephen Thompson is currently Superintendent of Willoughby-Eastlake School District in Ohio. He has a broad experience in education and leadership. See complete bio and resume.
The board narrowed the field to three after interviewing seven candidates brought forward by the search firm.
The finalists will participate in a series of final interviews and meet and greet opportunities Wednesday, May 29. The community is invited to meet all three candidates on a rotating basis from 5:45 to 8:45 p.m. at the Community Resource Center, located at 3900 Broadway in Everett.
