Secondary Instructional Materials

  • Everett Public Schools has adopted SpringBoard instructional materials, developed by The College Board, to support and guide instruction and assessments for English Language Arts Common Core State Standards (ELA CCSS) in our 6 - 12 English classrooms. Lessons and activities are designed with the end in mind to build student proficiency with the ELA CCSS, and include an emphasis upon students using strategies for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and collaboration for engagement, deeper learning, and preparation for postsecondary success. With the newest edition of SpringBoard, teachers and students can access rigorous materials that support not only the ELA CCSS and 21st century skills, but also a variety of 21st century literacies and alignment to Advanced Placement (AP) English courses and SAT expectations.

LANGUAGE! Live is another instructional resource for secondary literacy. These Voyager Sopris resources align with the ELA CCSS, including Reading Foundations, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language, and provide a blended learning model of learning to boost student learning and achievement. The research foundation for LANGUAGE! Live and an overview of these instructional materials can be found here
