Cascade High School Bldg. 200 HVAC Upgrade
The scope of work includes upgrading the HVAC system in Building 200 to include all of the 27 water source heat pumps, hydronic water loop piping, cooling tower, boilers, hydronic pumps and the DDC control system.

Commissioning of the new system is well underway and punch lists have been delivered. Project close-out will be next.
August 8, 2024
All heat pumps have been installed and started up. The Test & Balance process is underway with commissioning to start on 8/19/24. Trades are wrapping up final details.
April 1, 2024
The challenges with the new cooling tower have been resolved and it is scheduled to be placed in service this week, during Spring Break. The contractor is also hoisting some of the new heat pumps into the attic space in preparation for upcoming work this summer.

The cooling tower startup encountered some challenges and has been pushed into March.
February 1, 2024
Work is underway to connect the new cooling tower and prepare for startup, planned for February 19.
January 3, 2024
The cooling tower was replaced over the holiday break. Work remains to complete connections and controls. Startup is scheduled for February 19.
November 1, 2023
Hydronic loop piping in the attic continues. Final planning is about to start for replacement of the cooling tower in the third week of December.
October 2, 2023
The existing hydronic loop with new boilers and new pumps are working as designed. Piping for the new hydronic loop in the attic has begun.
September 1, 2023
Fans are running to supply outside air to the interior spaces. The new boilers have had factory startup and the existing cooling tower has had some modifications to run with the new equipment. The hydronic loop for the heat pumps is in the final stages of being placed in service so the building can be heated and cooled. That will complete the work planned for this summer. Piping has been placed in the attic so it can be placed during the school year. The new cooling tower will be installed over the holiday break. The heat pumps will be replaced next summer and be connected to the new piping to finish the project.

The new boilers and pumps have been set and piping is well underway.
July 3, 2023
Construction is underway with demolition in the boiler room complete and the contractor undertaking underground utility work. The contractor is pouring concrete housekeeping pads the week of July 10. All major equipment is on site. Project is tracking to schedule.
May 31, 2023
The pre-construction meeting has been held and the schedule for work through this calendar year has been developed by the contractor. The final submittal is in the engineer’s office for review.
April 28, 2023
The school board has authorized the award of bid to the apparent low bidder, Pipe Construction. A contract and other necessary pre-construction paperwork have been finalized.
March 1, 2023
The project is out to bid with a due date of 3/9/2023.
February 1, 2023
Finishing touches are being placed on the bid set in preparation for the first advertisement for bids on Friday, 2/3/2023, with bids due 3/9/23.
January 3, 2023
90% drawings have been reviewed and the bid schedule is being developed with plans to bid in January.

Preparations for bidding is underway.

The commissioning agent is under contract and is providing input for the project plans and specifications.

The mechanical drawings and specifications have been delivered for review and the electrical portion is due as well.

The prime engineer has been working on details and coordination with the other disciplines.

Mechanical design is about 80% complete and electrical design is about 60% complete; a preliminary estimate has been received.

The engineer is under contract and has started work on the design. An on-site meeting has taken place with the engineer and a local contractor to determine the best sequencing for the work given the schedule for the use of the building. The current plan is to complete the design and bid the project for work to begin early in the calendar year of 2023.
