Everett Public Schools is rich in culture with a diverse community that represents and speaks over 90 different languages. We are a school district committed to embracing each and every one of our community partners' experiences, culture, beliefs, and traditions. To reflect and honor this diversity, we have created our first formal calendar to recognize and spread awareness about religions and cultures within our district for our students, staff, and community.
This is a living document that will be revised throughout the school year based on the feedback and input we receive from community partners, families, and staff members. Please provide feedback and/or suggestions on our cultural calendar by emailing the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department.

What are High Impact Observances?
High impact observances are cultural or religious days that may impact student learning.
-
How are cultural or religious observances chosen?
Due to the extensive number of cultural and religious observances, dates for this calendar were determined by the following criteria:
- Might a student or a staff member be absent as a result of this day?
- Might a student or staff member be disengaged as a result of this day?
- Might a student, family, or staff member not be able to participate in a school activity during or after school as a result of this day?
- Does the day provide an oppportunity for a teachable moment regarding ethnic or cultural diversity that might not otherwise be discussed, particularly dates associated with a continued history of oppresion, discrimination, or racism?
Acknowledgements to Cultures Connection for the development of the criteria.
