• The Highly Capable Program in Everett Public Schools is designed to meet learning needs and challenge students who have advanced thinking and academic abilities. Highly Capable classes are open to students in second, third, fourth and fifth grade.

Students learn and study in self-contained classrooms with an accelerated curriculum that encourages and inspires them to develop higher-level thinking skills. Highly Capable classrooms are held in specific schools in the district, based upon qualified enrollment. The district provides transportation for students who attend a Highly Capable Center that is not their neighborhood school.

Testing is complete for placement in the 2025-2026 school year except for those students who joined Everett Public Schools after the referral deadlines. Summer testing is for students who were enrolled in EPS after December 2, 2024. Students must be registered or preregistered at their neighborhood school to be tested. Students are tested at their 2024-2025 grade level for placement in the 2025-2026 school year.
