- Synergy--our new Student Information System (SIS)

What is a Student Information System (SIS)?
A Student Information System (SIS) is a computer program schools use to keep track of important information about students and teachers. Our current SIS is called eSchoolPlus. It helps us with things like:
- Signing students up for school
- Assigning them to teachers and classes
- Storing medical and academic information
- Managing other day-to-day school data
It also connects to other digital tools we use, like Canvas, Clever, iReady, and Panorama, so everything stays up to date.
Right now, we use eSchoolPlus plus six or more other tools to manage all of this information safely. That’s a lot to juggle.
What’s Changing?
This year, we’re switching to a new system called Synergy by Edupoint. It’s a more modern system that combines many of our current tools into one program.
With Synergy:
- Staff only need to learn one system
- Most tasks can be done in one place
- It will save time and make things easier
Important Deadline:
To switch over to Synergy, schools must finish some tasks earlier than usual:
- All class schedules must be made
- All students must be enrolled in their classes
- Deadline: June 27 at 4 p.m.
That’s when eSchoolPlus will shut down for good, and we’ll move the final data into Synergy.
How will Synergy help parents?
Synergy is going to make things way easier for families.
- Fewer passwords – You’ll just need one login to access your student’s info, instead of juggling multiple tools, AND you can create and change your own passwords.
- Better communication – Tools like conference scheduling and emergency alerts (coming later) will make it easier for schools to connect with families.
- More accurate info – Since the whole district is using Synergy, the information parents see will be up-to-date and consistent.
- More features coming – Some tools will roll out later, like student data reports and hall pass systems, but the goal is to give families a full, easy-to-use system over time.

Oct. 14, 2024: Current projects update
For most people the data upload phase of a project like this is not the most glamorous part, but it is vital. Even small mistakes in the data can cause problems with several other parts of our systems.
We are currently completing round 3 (out of 8) of the data conversions. Each step gets us closer to having the tool ready by our target date of July 17th.
Right now we are also identifying all the various stakeholder groups that will need to receive Synergy training. We are making plans about how best to train people without overwhelming them and giving them time to practice and learn in our test environment before we go live. We'll be contacting groups to discuss training dates and needs over the next few months.
