Our district promotes safe, welcoming schools for all.

 

The School Board adopted the Gender Inclusive Schools Policy 3213P in June of 2016. This policy along with our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Policy 0010 serves as the foundation to ensure a safe, and inclusive environment for all students, staff, and families. Additionally, on June 1, 2022 our district hosted our first annual PRIDE Day within our district and raised the PRIDE flag in support of our LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families

We encourage our schools, staff, families, and students to show their pride and allyship throughout the year and recognize June as LGBTQIA+ Pride month. Below are other significant dates:

Gay City is the hub for LGBTQ individuals seeking affirming and responsive resources, wellness, and community.

Gender Odyssey

Provides an annual transgender youth conference for attendees ages from 8 to 20 years old.

Every day GLSEN works to ensure that LGBTQ students are able to learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and harassment. 

GSA Network

GSA Network is a next-generation LGBTQ racial and gender justice organization that empowers and trains queer, trans and allied youth leaders to advocate, organize, and mobilize an intersectional movement for safer schools and healthier communities.

The site strives to offer representation and role models by asking LGBTQ+ adults questions created by LGBTQ+ youth

Lambert House

Lambert House empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth ages 10-22 through the development of leadership, social and life skills.

TransFamilies

Nonprofit organization committed to supporting transgender people and their families since 2008. Formerly called Gender Diversity.

Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people.

 

 Youth Leadership Opportunities:

GLSEN Shine Team

The GLSEN SHINE Team is a group of student leaders working to create safer schools and communities throughout Washington. The team members will meet regularly throughout the year to develop skills, form a network of other youth leaders, and organize programs in the community that promote respect for LGBTQIA+ students.
