Washington Youth Academy

  • WA Youth Academy WYA is a division of the National Guard's Youth ChalleNGe Program. Established under authority of both federal and state law, WYA is a state-run, 22-week residential intervention for youth ages 16-18 who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out. Students can recover up to 8 credits while at WYA.
Each youth has a mentor of their choice that they work closely with during their time at WYA and the year after to develop goals and a post-residential plan. Student participants are not allowed to have any convicted felonies or legal action pending, and must remain free of illegal drugs.
To learn more about WYA, visit their website, email InfoWYA@mil.wa.gov, or call 1-877-228-8947 to speak with a recruiting specialist. Apply for WYA here.
