The Everett Public Schools Board of Directors uses annual goals to guide its efforts during the year, and to assess the use of its time in board meetings and its responsibility for linkage to the community. The goal format includes key performance outcome reference numbers to enhance alignment with the district's strategic priorities, to provide annual tracking using the BoardDocs system, as well as references to the superintendent evaluation framework to align with the superintendent’s performance standards. In 2009, the board developed a new format for its annual goals based on the Washington State School Directors' Association (WSSDA) board standards. The linkage to the standards and BoardDocs features has proven far more efficient in reporting progress on the board goals. The annual goals are typically reviewed at the board's annual planning workshop during the summer, in partial fulfillment of its responsibility under
Policy 1821, Evaluation of the Board, and periodic reports on progress are reviewed by the board and posted for community information.
