Superintendent's Message, January 19, 2021

  • Dr. Ian Saltzman

  • Dear friends,

We are so excited to begin our phased return of students to school buildings this week as we welcome Developmental Kindergarten, STRIVE and Life Skills students back into the classroom. Learning remotely is challenging and it means so much socially for the children to be around their classmates, friends, and teachers and learning together. Our teachers have missed their students and are thrilled to be able to work with them in person.

Now, as always, safety is our first priority for the children and staff in our schools. Even though COVID cases in the county are still high, we can bring small groups of students back into buildings because of good safety planning, preparations and sufficient PPE. We are following sound protocols aligned with expert health guidance to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect the health of our students and staff.

I am encouraged the COVID vaccine distribution and administration process is quickly evolving and the pace of vaccination is expected to increase significantly over the coming months. After so many months of waiting, many of us can now imagine a return to normalcy in our schools, our homes, and our communities.

    Be well and be safe,

    Dr. Ian B. Saltzman, Superintendent
