School-Based Health Centers

  • Community Health Center of Snohomish County (CHC) will open school-based health centers (SBHC) mid- to late-2025 at Everett High and Cascade High schools thanks to Legislative capital funding of $244,000 for each SBHC. As part of the SBHC, CHC provides comprehensive medical and dental services and partners to provide mental health services. All SBHC services are provided to students at no cost to the family and follow the same healthcare privacy rules as standard healthcare facilities.

The following are examples of services provided at school-based health centers:

    • Well-child checks, sports physicals, and immunizations
    • Chronic condition management and medication management
    • Evaluation and treatment of common health problems, including same-day illness or injury
    • Preventive health care, including health education
    • Mental health, behavioral health, and social-emotional health services
    • Dental and oral health care
    • Referrals to other health care providers and specialists as needed

A school-based health center provides a natural setting to provide the services and resources students and their families need to maintain and improve their health. SBHCs foster learning readiness and academic achievement by ensuring that student’s health needs are being met so they can focus on learning, growing, and thriving.
