  • Transition Reports

As a child care provider, preschool teacher, or early learning professional, you have important information about the child/children you have cared for and taught. The PreK-K Transition Report is designed to provide information for schools and kindergarten teachers so they can be ready to welcome kindergarten students as they enter public school.

To hear local teachers and administrators from area schools and programs talk about why this connection is so important, please view this short video.

We are working with Northwest ESD 189 to forward  PreK-K Transition Reports to districts throughout Snohomish County. This means that you will be able to send your important transition information for students who are planning to attend kindergarten at a school within Snohomish County next year.

Please visit the Northwest Educational Service District 189 website to view a short video on PreK-K Transition Reporting Process and to access the transition report documents.

    Profile of a Kindergarten-Ready Child:

Professional Guidelines aligned with Teaching Strategies GOLD (WaKIDS)

Early learning professionals have an important role in children's development toward kindergarten readiness.  This profile of a kindergarten-ready child, as defined by Teaching Strategies GOLD (the whole-child assessment component of WaKIDS) provides characteristics of a student ready to enter kindergarten.  Early learning professionals can use this information about kindergarten readiness to plan activities and learning experiences that support children across six developmental areas, and help move them toward sucess in kindergarten and beyond. The specific Teaching Strategies GOLD objectives and dimensions to which this profile is connected follows each item.  WaKIDS (Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills) is designed to help incoming kindergarten students transition successfully to the K-12 system.  For more information go to:  www.K-12.wa.us/wakids/

    Professional Learning

Culturally Responsive Education is the thread of learning that will connect our 2023-2024 Preschool to Kindergarten Connections professional learning sessions (five sessions will be held throughout the year). The instructional practices that we will explore together this year will aim to engage all students from an asset based lens as we work to mitigate the equity gaps. Together we will gain understanding, explore tools, and apply practices within culturally responsive early learning classrooms allowing us to create meaningful instruction across the domains.

2023-2024 sessions completed.  Save The Date for 2024-2025 Preschool to Kindergarten Connections professional learning opportunities will be shared with the community partners in October 2024.

P-5 Instruction & Early Learning Programs Team looks forward to seeing our early learning partners next year!
