As a child care provider, preschool teacher, or early learning professional, you have important information about the child/children you have cared for and taught. The PreK-K Transition Report is designed to provide information for schools and kindergarten teachers so they can be ready to welcome kindergarten students as they enter public school.
To hear local teachers and administrators from area schools and programs talk about why this connection is so important, please view this short video.
We are working with Northwest ESD 189 to forward PreK-K Transition Reports to districts throughout Snohomish County. This means that you will be able to send your important transition information for students who are planning to attend kindergarten at a school within Snohomish County next year.To access the transition report documents, please visit the Northwest Educational Service District 189 website.
Language Development & Language Proficiency Levels
Using the English Language Development Standards to identify a student's proficiency level is the first step towards designing effective instruction to ensure that all ELL students can access content. There are four proficiency levels (beginning/advanced beginning, intermediate, advanced, transitional) in each of the four language domains (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing). A fifth domain, Comprehension, is embedded within the domains of Listening and Reading and is part of the Washington English Language Proficiency Assessment (WELPA).Additional information is available on Washington State's Migrant and Bilingual Education site.
