How do I know if my child/family will qualify for ECEAP?
In order to qualify for ECEAP, families must meet eligibility requirements which may include income, family circumstance, environmental or developmental factors. There is an application process to find out if you qualify.
Here are questions to answer that will help you decide if you should apply for ECEAP:
- Does my family live on a limited income? If your family qualifies for basic food or free or reduced-price meals, you may qualify for ECEAP based on income.
- What if my family income has changed? If your family has had a recent significant reduction of income, you might qualify for ECEAP. Examples include job loss or reduction, family separation, etc.
- Are there other family circumstances or concerns impacting my child or our family? Examples include homelessness, foster or kinship care or adopted after foster/kinship care, CPS, FAR or ICW involvement, household conflicts, health issues, concerns about development, dual language learner (learning English), an Individualized Education Program (IEP), etc.
If you answered yes to any of these questions, please fill out the ECEAP Inquiry Form to provide basic information about you and your child. An ECEAP staff member will follow up with you to talk more about the program and complete an application.

What will ECEAP be like?
ECEAP is a comprehensive preschool program for children and their families. That means we’ll partner with you to support your child’s learning and connect regularly with you to also support your whole family. ECEAP has three main parts to the program:
- Preschool services for 3 and 4-year-old children – ECEAP focuses on preparing children for kindergarten and success in school using a “whole child” approach. This includes social- emotional skills, language, thinking skills and physical development as well as academic skills such as literacy and mathematics – all of which will help children be prepared for kindergarten. Preschoolers learn through play and interactions, so during class children will have a meal as a group, large group/circle time, small group opportunities, and ample time to make choices about their play, both indoors and out.
- Family services – ECEAP focuses on supporting family stability and connectedness. In ECEAP, we will work with parents to set goals for their family and provide resources, tools, and other support. Parents will have opportunities to be involved, learn about topics that interest them and gain support from staff and other families.
- Health and Nutrition services – ECEAP focuses on child and family health and well-being. Children will receive developmental and health screenings, and we work with parents to ensure children have preventative medical and dental care. Health and nutrition activities and education will be a regular part of the program for both children and families.

What do other parents say about ECEAP?
Here are some quotes from past ECEAP parents:
- My child has excelled so much in the last two years of him being in ECEAP. He’s able to speak with people with ease and make new friends wherever he goes. He knows how to vocalize when something is challenging and he’s needing help.
- The ECEAP teachers helped us help our son. They gave us the run down of what he needed to work on at home and always informed us on what he was excelling in. They always gave us the time of day when we had questions or concerns.
- ECEAP helped us see confidence in ourselves and set goals for our child and also for ourselves.
